Project One was sponsored by The City Of Minneapolis - Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Office and The Kresge Foundation.
The artists wanted to create a healing response to the pain and destruction of the time since May 25th in the City of Minneapolis.

excited delirium project was born out of this desire to heal.

This project deals with healing from trauma, community and personal; how we absorb it, how we deflect it, how we redirect trauma. This project also deals with absence / presence. The projections are replication of a real being and also like a ghost apparition. Some of the spaces have been destroyed completely, razed to the ground. And the work is about the quick disposal. Does the memory of us get swept away? We are existing this way, and when I say we I mean Black people in Minneapolis. We are always grasping onto presence as a result of everything from police murder to gentrification, we are always trying to preserve history and dignity and place. We are still trying to own our rightfully owed piece. Our healing needs are so very deep, and we are constantly attending to them. We want to attend to our healing in this way.

The project is a collaboration between filmmaker D.A. Bullock and healing artist / movement artist DejaJoelle. DejaJoelle is a Black artist who uses dance, poetry and theater to explore the many bridges to and from Black America and Africa. Her movements are offered as healing prayers.

The collaboration was filmed and projected onto buildings in North and South Minneapolis, both spaces that experienced trauma and destruction during the uprising.

Project One was completed in DEC 2020.
